My story at SMUGz began over 8 years ago; initially the only goal was to power through the Friday-night hangover, and also to make sure Coach Tim didn’t call me out for not rotating! But over the years, my love for this weird and wonderful sport has grown deeper and stronger. SMUGz gives you the chance to try something new, stay fit, meet new people, and win trophies! Give it a try - you won’t regret it!

I’m over 2 years into SMUGz journey! Improving fitness, being part of a team sport and meeting great people I would say are my top 3 things I love about this Dragon Boat team. Paddling in the sun on a Saturday afternoon and finishing the day with the sun going down and a pint in Stanley - it doesn’t get much better than that!

As team captain, I drive our squad to be the best it can be. On the water, I focus on an inclusive, fun-loving team culture that works hard. Off the water, you can find me on the beach Crushin' it at Beersbie!

I joined SMUGz at the beginning of 2023 and found the most the most wonderful group of people to spend my Saturdays with. If you are looking for a team sport that is equal parts hard-work and fun, look no further and give paddling a try!

I joined SMUGz mid-season in 2021, diving headfirst into a training session. While it was one of the toughest activities I've undertaken, the experience of teamwork and pushing together resonated deeply with me. SMUGz boasts a diverse community of individuals from various backgrounds, and I felt a sense of belonging almost immediately. Transitioning from a paddler to the role of treasurer has been a truly enlightening journey. I'm eager to contribute further and continue supporting our club's growth and success!

Joining SMUGz was the next step in my paddling journey after being part of the Canagain Dragons in Singapore. What drew me to SMUGz was their perfect blend of competitive spirit, open friendliness, and an infectious upbeat vibe that sets them apart. It wasn't just about racing; it was about being part of a community that celebrates teamwork and energy both on and off the water. Stepping into this vibrant atmosphere felt like finding the perfect balance between pushing limits and embracing camaraderie. The experience continues to be as inspiring as it is rewarding!
